चन्द्रप्रभा का मुख्य कार्य मूत्रेन्द्रिय और शुक्रार्तव की उत्पादक इन्द्रिय पर शामक, बल्य और रसायन असर पहुँचाने का है। शरीर के धातु- • परिपोषण क्रम में प्रतिबन्ध आकर जो व्यवस्था भंग होती है, उसे यह व्यवस्थित बनाती है। अर्थात् पूर्व धातुओं में से परधातु-निर्माण क्रिया सम्यक् होने लगती है। सुजाक, उपदंश, शराब का सेवन, तीव्र रसायन आदि औषधि सेवन अथवा गरम मसालों को अधिक उपयोग करते रहना, तमाखू, – गांजा, सूर्य के ताप में अधिक भ्रमण आदि कारणों से मूत्रेन्द्रिय संस्थान में क्षोभ उत्पन्न होकर मूत्रेन्द्रिय में दाह आदि विकार उपस्थित होते हैं। इसका परिणाम वृक्कों पर होकर मूत्र की मात्रा कम बनती है। कमर में दर्द, मूत्र में अधिक जलन, मूत्र में सिकता (रेत), शर्करा (कंकड़) जाना आदि लक्षण प्रतीत होते हैं। इस पर चन्द्रप्रभा का उत्तम उपयोग होता है।
